One of the things
that needs to be considered is wheather the job could be carried out
successfully on one of the ever increasing amount of Digital presses
that are now available.
If this is possible, straigt away the cost for film and plates is eliminated,
and so are the initial make ready charges associated with traditional
presses.
Although time
would have to be taken into account for the electronic file conversion,
most of this time would have been spent in pre-press anyway prior to
film runout.
Quality must also
be taken into account, with the HP/Indigo option being the better more
litho' like reproduction but this is also vastly more expensive than
the Xerox/Canon digital presses.
Customers could
be made aware of the digital options and on smaller quantities made
aware of the savings that could be made.
